As the founder and Chairman of Agri All Africa (AAA), Dr. de Jager has spearheaded a solutions-based company that serves as a super platform, integrating crucial components within the agricultural value chain to foster successful commercial farming practices across the African continent. Leveraging his extensive experience as a commercial farmer in the Lowveld of the Limpopo Province, South Africa, Dr. de Jager has played a pivotal role in advocating for the empowerment of smallholder farmers through the principles of commercial agriculture.

Dr. de Jager’s illustrious career extends beyond his entrepreneurial endeavors. He has held prominent

positions in various agricultural organizations, including serving as President of the Pan African Farmers Organisation (PAFO) and President of the Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU). Educated at the University of Pretoria, Dr. de Jager holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy, with a thesis focusing on “Black Consciousness.” His academic achievements, coupled with his practical experience as a commercial farmer, have positioned him as a leading voice in the agricultural community, recognized for his expertise in conflict management, strategic planning, and agricultural investment.

Throughout his career, Dr. de Jager has been a prolific author and speaker, contributing over 397 articles on various topics related to agriculture, land reform, and climate change in prominent publications and conferences worldwide. Dirk Hanekom

Dirk is a son of Africa. His interest and vast experience of the continent spans a military, diplomatic and agricultural career over a period of over 40 years. His current position and activities bear testimony that his energy and focus has intensified over the years and helped him to link the all-important policy- and strategy levels with practical implementation and real growth and development. His post graduate studies include strategic risk analysis within the social political environment and international relations.

He was CEO of Agri Gauteng from 2011 to 2015 and served as CEO of AgriSaMoz (SA Farmers in Mozambique) from 2010 until 2016. He was the representative of Agri SA on the Steering Committee of the Nepad Business Foundation (NBF. He succeeded Dr Theo de Jager as Chairman of the Africa Committee of Agri SA and still liaises with organised agriculture regarding agricultural involvement in Africa, especially SA and Zimbabwean farmers’ and agricultural investors’ interest in expanding their agricultural business in Africa.

He is the co-founder of Agri All Africa (AaA) with Dr Theo De Jager (who was the President of the World Farmers Organisation until June 2022) and has taken up the position of Executive Manager of Agri All Africa (npc) with effect from 1 April 2015. Dirk also serves as a Strategic Partner of Viribus Consult (VC) – that dedicates itself to develop all project and investment opportunities deemed as implementable up to bankable standards. This includes fully-fledged business- and implementation plan based on sound financial models and the selection of primary production and business partners. He also is in a strategic partnership with Agri X – a dedicated electronic and virtual agricultural services- and –marketing platform.

Dirk has been an Executive member of the Zambian South African Business Forum since 2017. In May 2020 he was requested by the SA government (DTI) – endorsed by the Zambian Government, to chair one of the seven Work Streams on Bilateral Economic Development (Agriculture and Agri Processing) between the two countries. AaA has had the privilege to have been invited to advise several African Governments and public as well as private investment platforms further afield to render investment guidance in the agricultural field. Apart from Zambia, AaA has developed very strong links with Governments in the SADC region (Angola, Namibia,

Mozambique, Zimbabwe, DRC, Lesotho and others. Pivotal relations have also been developed with countries in all the other Regional Economic Communities (REC) in Africa. AaA relies on Dirk’s background and extensive networks in Africa in this regard where Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana and The Gambia have been identified as priority countries in ECOWAS (West Africa); Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda in COMESA (East Africa); and the Republic of Congo in ECCAS (Central Africa). Relationships with Northern African countries are also in the processed of being developed in the AaA Leadership networks.

In 2021 and 2022 further strategic partnerships have been entered into inter alia IFUYA (A strategic international- and agricultural development company as well as with AsiliaGeo, an energy and fuel/oil value-chain specialist outfit. Dirk has presented strategic think tanks and agricultural conferences on four on agricultural think tanks in agriculture in the past two decades. AaA has produced and add value to over 50 projects in more than 40 countries in Africa over the last two decades in all fields of agriculture.

On a personal level, Dirk has a passion for constructive business and sustainable development in Africa and is of the opinion that small holder development in a unique relationship with current commercial farmers can be the cornerstone of successful commercialisation of agricultural value chains in Africa.

He believes that healthy families are the building block for the future and treasures his own family and his fellow men in the same vein. He is married with Anneke and has two sons Dirk junior and Wouter. He is a keen sport enthusiast and golfer. Part of his affinity to Africa is his respect and love for nature.

Woosun Jung
Independent director

Woosun Jung is a seasoned senior executive with over 20 years of management and consulting experience, renowned for his track record of success in delivering value and results. His career spans four continents, where he has played pivotal roles in leading technology- based initiatives and achieving cross-functional business objectives.

With a core focus on organizational design, restructuring, team building, and leadership, Woosun has excelled in driving growth and innovation across diverse industries. His expertise encompasses new product launches, process improvement, emerging technology evaluation, and vendor negotiations, along with his role as a manufacturing consultant and ICT implementation strategist.

As the Founder and Director of Bluetembo Holdings Limited, Woosun has made significant contributions to major projects, including the Kenol-Sagana Highway and the Trauma Center, both financed by the African Development Bank (AFDB). His leadership has been instrumental in navigating complex challenges and delivering successful outcomes.

Prior to Bluetembo Holdings, Woosun served as a Director at Afrikon Limited, where he played a key role in the development of the Olkaria I and IV Geothermal Power Plants’ civil works. His expertise in power plant operations and maintenance consulting was further demonstrated during his tenure at Hyundai Engineering Company Ltd, where he led the Olkaria I and IV Geothermal Power Plant EPC contracts.

Woosun’s entrepreneurial journey began as the Founder and Director of Track, a global company specializing in hardware and software solutions. Under his leadership, Track achieved milestones such as designing the first Condor Stand Alone system and securing contracts with major clients in the UK and Nigeria.

His career also includes executive roles at Tiger Telematics in London, UK, and Techway Inc in London, United Kingdom, where he spearheaded research and development initiatives and forged strategic partnerships with industry leaders.

Woosun holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of North Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom, and continues to uphold a commitment to excellence in driving business growth and innovation across diverse global markets.

Dr. Franck Attere
Agricultural Ingenieur

Dr. Franck Attere is an Ingenieur Agronome (Agricultural Ingenieur) from the University of Yaoundé in Cameroun who holds a Master of Science and Master of Philosophy in Plant Breeding from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Plant Genetic Resources Use and Conservation) from the University of Birmingham, UK.

Franck started in Burkina Faso and Togo as an Agronomist with INADES-Formation, a Jesuit Development NGO, training young farmers in best cropping techniques and the use of appropriate planting material.

After a few years, as Genetic diversity and Associate Plant explorer at IITA (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture of the CGIAR) in Ibadan Nigeria, he became the FAO/IBPGR (International Board for Plant Genetic Resources) Regional Coordinator for the use and conservation of crops genetic resources in East Africa based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Later he became the first Regional Director for Sub- Saharan Africa of IPGRI of the CGIAR [the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute/(currently Bioversity

International), of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research). He was involved in the establishment and development of national and regional conservation programs and gene banks in the region, such as the Kenya Gene bank and Program at Muguga KALRO, and the SADC Regional Gene bank and Program in Chalimbana, Zambia.

Dr. Attere was involved in the preparation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (Rio, 1992) and contributed to the State of the World Genetic Resources and the FAO Global Plan for PGRFA (Leipzig, 1996).

Franck Attere joined the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) as its Regional Director for the Central Africa Regional Program Office (CARPO), with base in Libreville, Gabon for the conservation and management of biodiversity in the Congo Basin Forest, 2nd World Largest Forest .

Later as a Senior Program Officer and Consultant at UNEP, he was involved in Program/Project Evaluation, capacity building in Integrated Environmental Assessment, Natural Resources Conservation/Management. He contributed to the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) and the Africa Environment Outlook (AEO), which are flagships of UNEP.

He also represented UNEP and developed its Environmental component in the UN international Process/Conference for Peace and Security in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.

Franck Attere joined AGRA as the Special Assistant to the President of AGRA and served as Secretary to the Board of Directors of AGRA. He later became AGRA’s Representative in Mali and Francophone West Africa involved in the development of “Regional Breadbaskets” for increased food production and security.

Dr Attere is a Fellow of the University of Birmingham and a Development Consultant. He is married and father of five.

Priscilla Dimakatso Motlhako

Priscilla Dimakatso Motlhako is a dynamic entrepreneur and seasoned international business executive with a wealth of experience spanning multiple sectors, including Infrastructure, Technology, Agriculture, Energy, and Mining. With a strong reputation for her entrepreneurial acumen and strategic vision, Priscilla has made significant contributions to private, public- private, and public sector initiatives within Africa and on the global stage.

Priscilla’s journey commenced at MTN (Mobile Telephone Network) in South Africa, where she honed her skills in customer knowledge management within the marketing division. Subsequently, she embarked on her entrepreneurial path, focusing on franchising and partnerships across South Africa and the broader African continent, laying the foundation for her extensive portfolio of successful ventures.

As Director and Co-Founder of the Boholo Group, Priscilla leads a prominent company with a presence in the UAE, Kenya, and partnerships across Africa and internationally. Boholo Group specializes in Infrastructure, Technology, Agriculture, Energy, and Mining, driving sustainable infrastructural growth in Africa and beyond through innovative business practices and strategic partnerships.

In the agriculture sector, Boholo Group is at the forefront of promoting food security by fostering successful commercial farming practices throughout Africa. Mr. Farouk M. Gumel

Mr. Farouk M. Gumel is a Group Executive Director and Executive Vice Chairman (Africa) for the Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, a global conglomerate operating in 13 countries across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. TGI’s business interests span the entire food value chain from origination/farming, processing, distribution, and branded retail. He is also the Chairman of WACOT Rice Limited, one of the largest state-of-the-art rice mills in Nigeria.

In over two decades, Mr. Gumel has built a wealth of cognate experience in consulting, audit, corporate finance, asset management and corporate governance, across various sectors and geographies. He also serves on the boards of major organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Prior to joining TGI, Mr. Gumel was a Partner and Head of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) West African Advisory/Consulting business which covers Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Angola. He worked in PwC in various capacities from 2002 to 2015 in the United Kingdom, United States of America and West Africa.

Between 2016 and 2020, he was an Honorary Advisor to the Presidency of Nigeria on agriculture and food security, where he supported in the development and implementation of the Presidential Fertiliser Initiative (PFI), the National Food Security programme and various Agriculture and food-related backward integration policy development initiatives.

He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Nigeria’s sovereign wealth fund as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Union Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria’s second oldest bank. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the leading U.S. business association focused solely on promoting business and investments between the United States and the nations of Africa.

Mr. Gumel is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He is also a life member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria. In addition to his professional memberships.

He possesses a Masters’ degree with a Distinction in Clean Technology from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, which he earned in 2001. For his first degree, he graduated with a First Class Bachelors’ degree in Materials (Leather) Technology from the University of Northampton in 2000.
